canvas rug

My friend from college, Carla, challenged us here at Green Bicycle to help her find a seriously allergy-friendly rug. Carla is a fantastic poet, new resident of Washington DC, and great blogger (www.carlita.wordpress.com).

A canvas rug is just the ticket - their low profile make them great for allergy sufferers. Canvas rugs were very popular during Colonial times, used at fancy places like Mount Vernon and the White House during John Adams presidency.

Since they are hand-painted, these rugs are not cheap. But you can always make your own! Martha Stewart, of course, shows us how here.

I hope this helps, Carla! Good luck with the new job and the new digs!
