decorating your jam

the apple butter is made. I have about 16 jars worth. and am super excited to give it out as a little christmas gift to friends and family. in order to dress it up a bit, I bought a bunch of fat quarters from stone mountain and daughter (east bay people, shop here for your fabric needs).

I cut "squares" out of the fabric and tied them to the top of the jars with baker's string (have it in bulk and *love* it). I bought labels from paper source. I am not thrilled with them. I wanted ones with a design and I am not the fanciest computer user, but these were the smallest and simplest to compliment the fabric. I have much more to do, but here are the results so far:

sew: a needle pulling thread

well, my sister has motivated me. I want to start quilting and in order to that, I need to better learn to sew. I was thinking smaller projects are key and at my cousin beth's house this weekend I fell madly in love with her beds and decided the key is in the pillow. not too many, but enough. especially for those of us still lacking a headboard.

therefore, I bought 4 yards of this tanya whelan fabric:

little folks

Although my sewing projects list is already too long, I can't help window shopping for new fabric. Bridget also just got a sewing machine for Christmas! I see some quilting and pillow-making in her future.

I'm loving Anna Maria Horner's new Little Folks collection - it has a peasant, Eastern European quality...in a good way. As a person of Slavic descent, I'm allowed to say that.



I especially like the Forest Hills scene...
